Jody McKay, Program Director and Teacher
Jody holds a BA and MA in music education from Montclair State University in New Jersey. Her primary instruments are French horn and piano. She has trained in Kodaly, Orff, Dalcroze, and Suzuki methods, and her primary focus of study has been in early childhood music education. After teaching middle school band and then elementary vocal music in the public schools of New Jersey, she paused her career to become a full-time mom while also moving back to Arizona. Jody created Little Music Makers of Flagstaff in 2017 and has written the curriculum for all of the classes. She holds K-12 Music Teaching certificates in Arizona and New Jersey and is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, Early Childhood Music and Movement Association, Arizona State Music Teachers Association, and Northern Arizona Music Teachers Association. Along with spending her time with all of the little music makers in class, Jody loves being a mom, maintains a piano studio, and is the Managing Director for the non-profit music ensemble Master Chorale of Flagstaff. Jody loves being amazed on a daily basis by the connection that young kids naturally have with music, and she also finds great joy in watching the new friendships (both child and adult) and support that develop during classes.
